Three youths will appear in court today in connection with an aggravated robbery in Northland.
Police were called to a business on Rauiri Drive in Marsden Cove about 3.14pm Wednesday.
Officers say three youths wearing masks and carrying a golf club and knife entered the premises and threatened staff before taking cigarettes and alcohol.
The offenders then fled in a stolen vehicle but it was spiked by police just south of Whangārei.
Whangārei Area Commander inspector Maria Nordstrom said police were "able to box in the vehicle, stop it, and take the offenders into custody without further incident".
"Our staff responded quickly and decisively. This was an excellent response by all available units and resulted in a swift apprehension."
The three youths will face a number of charges relating to aggravated robbery, vehicle theft and driving offences.
"Police have no tolerance for those causing harm in our communities and we will continue to utilise all measures available to hold offenders to account," Nordstrom said.
