The National Party says it has received Maria Dew KC's report into Tauranga MP Sam Uffindell and will make a statement later today.

Leader Christopher Luxon asked Dew to conduct a review after allegations of aggressive and bullying behaviour were made against Uffindell dating from his time at high school and university.

It was initially expected to take two weeks but Luxon later announced an extension to the timeline.

Uffindell was stood down from the party's caucus on 10 August 2022.

Prior to that, it was revealed that Uffindell was kicked out of his boarding school as a 16-year-old for beating a younger student.

Uffindell admitted the incident, describing it as the "stupidest thing he'd ever done" and while "by far the worst" incident he had been involved in, he had been a thug and a bully who had hurt other students too.

Then, bombshell number two: a woman who flatted with Uffindell at Otago University claiming - and backed up by her father - the MP had been an aggressive bully who once pounded on her bedroom door, screaming obscenities, until she fled through her window, quitting the house for good.

Uffindell denied claims he engaged in "intimidatory or bullying" behaviour, but said there was a falling-out between flatmates.
