A new political poll shows Paul Eagle is the frontrunner in the Wellington mayoral race, with Tory Whanau a close second and the incumbent Andy Foster lagging behind.
The TVNZ Q-and-A Kantar poll asked 500 Wellingtonians about their voting intentions.
It shows Eagle was on 28 percent, Whanau had 26 percent and Foster just 20 percent.
However, more than a third - 35 percent - of people didn't know who they would vote for.
Kantar Public said it was too close to call, with so many undecided voters.
The poll also asked voters what issues they wanted their next mayor to focus on.
More than half (57 percent) said water infrastructure was the highest priority, followed by climate adaptation (27 percent), road maintenance (25 percent), reducing rates (25 percent) and public transport investment (23 percent).
