Fiji authorities are yet to explain why a military officer wanted for sexual assault in Suva has been allowed to ignore court summons twice.
Last month, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said Pita Matairavula would be produced in court over the allegations once he had been located.
He was wanted in connection with the videotaped beating of a prison escapee.
While the police said they were searching for him, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions issued a statement to say he was presented in a separate alleged rape case in a Lautoka court and granted bail.
There has been no comment from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions over why he was allowed to leave the court while it wanted him to appear in Suva in a separate case.
Police are also yet to say why they failed to locate the suspect when he had been summoned and appeared in Lautoka.
