Three people arrested following weapons incident in rural Marlborough

Police have arrested three people described as dangerous following an incident where a weapon was brandished in Wakamarina this afternoon.

In a statement, police said they received a report of a weapon being presented in an incident in Wakamarina at about 12.25pm today.

Armed police responded and stopped a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident on State Highway 6, Atawhai Drive at 1.15pm today.

A 39-year-old man, a 41-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man are set to appear in Nelson District Court tomorrow facing charges relating to the incident.

Nelson Bays Area Commander, Inspector Matt Scoles, said the arrests were down to the swift actions of the officers involved.

"Quick action by our staff has seen three dangerous individuals apprehended and being held to account for their unlawful behaviour."
