A slip has forced the closure State Highway 2 near Ōpōtiki, while multiple snow warnings are still in place after wild weather across the country.

Parts of west and north Auckland have also been out of power after toppled trees brought down power lines.

Residents in Pahiatua in Tararua District will be continuing to clean up after some homes in the town were flooded on Sunday.

Meanwhile, MetService said while sunshine would make an appearance in the middle of the week, rain and wind was set to make a comeback.
