A port worker has fallen and broken an arm at Lyttelton Port of Christchurch.
The incident comes as combined figures from Maritime New Zealand and WorkSafe New Zealand show eight deaths and at least 230 non-fatal incidents both on ships and onshore from 2011 to 2014.
The port company says the hatchman was injured at about 9am today when he fell while working on a container vessel.
Maritime New Zealand has been notified but has not yet started investigation.
