Three 'suspicious' building fires near Taupō

Three overnight fires at buildings near Lake Taupō are being treated as suspicious, Fire and Emergency says.

Crews were called to two house fires - on Areta Lane in Hatepe, and Waitetoko Road in Tauranga Taupō - between 3am and 4am overnight.

They were also called to a burning shed on Heuheu Parade in Tauranga Taupō.

All the buildings were extensively damaged but police said nobody was inside the buildings.
