A convicted child killer whose performance on probation last year was described as abysmal has had her bid for parole declined.
Elizabeth Healy is serving a sentence of preventive detention for the murder in Christchurch in 1997 of 17-month-old Shae Hammond.
She was the child's nanny.
Healy was granted parole in 2013.
But her performance on probation in 2014 was described by the Parole Board panel convenor, Justice Gendall QC, as abysmal.
Justice Gendall said there was a lack of engagement with the probation officer; alcohol problems; failure to adhere to a safety plan and other serious breaches which led to her being recalled in November last year.
He said for the moment, parole was not on the table and was declined.
