One of the Vanuatu islands worst hit by Cyclone Pam last March is showing remarkable signs of recovery.
Tanna in the country's south was hit directly with winds of up to 200 kilometres an hour and most of its houses, trees and infrastructure was destroyed.
Jamie Tahana reports from Tanna:
"Tanna still bears the scars of Cyclone Pam. Many trees still lie where they fell, many houses still have tarpaulins for roofs and many buildings still lie in ruins. But the chair of the Provincial Disaster Authority David Tavurvur says most people have rebuilt shelter and rain has started to come back which has eased the fears about the effects of this year's El Nino on crops. Mr Tavurvur says there is still a long way to go but the rebuild is moving along at a remarkable rate with international assistance. He says every one of the island's schools will reopen next week for the new school year."
