The Bottle-O liquor store in Three Kings has been targeted by thieves for the second time in a fortnight.

In the early hours of Tuesday, numerous people attempted to break into the Bottle-O shop on Duke Street in Three Kings.

The shop owner, Jeff Wong, said the first time was a ram-raid style burglary and this time it was a smash and grab attempt.

"Last week, the curtain door was absolutely smashed by a ram raid and a lot of spirits were stolen," Wong said.

This morning's smash and grab attempt comes after thieves broke into the store on Thursday, 16 June.

"Also this morning, another glass window has been damaged too."

Linda Hallas, who lives nearby, said they woke up to a loud smashing noise and saw numerous people attempting to break in.

"It was actually our son who alerted us first, that makes me angry," Hallas said.

They saw a number of men head north along Mt Eden Road in a small silver car, that looked like a different car than the last one, she said.

"My husband guarded the store while we waited for the police and owner to arrive."

Wong said they used hammers to smash the front window. This caused extensive damage to the front of the store and the metal grate.

Police said no arrests had been made so far and an investigation was underway.
