Police are making equiries into a sudden death in Levin earlier today.
The body of an 85-year-old woman was found about 3pm after police were called to an address on Bath Street.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained, Detective Senior Sergeant David Thompson said in a statement.
An investigation into the circumstances of the death is underway.
A scene examination is underway and there will be an increased police presence in the area until it has been completed.
