The man whose body was found in the water at Evans Bay in Wellington on Tuesday has been identified.
Police say he was 45-year-old Joseph Nansen.
They believe the last known sighting of him is an image on a CCTV camera, near the Evans Bay yacht club at 11pm on 2 May.
Police want to find a missing backpack Nansen was carrying, which they say is significant to the investigation.
They are also looking for a light-coloured hoodie, a leather jacket, trousers and a pair of dark shoes with light-coloured soles.
Nansen's death is being treated as unexplained.
