TVNZ's head of news and current affairs Paul Yurisich has gone on leave while a review into recruitment processes is underway.
This follows the resignation of Breakfast co-host Kamahl Santamaria last week, after just a month in the job, following accusations of inappropriate behaviour at TVNZ and in his previous job at Al Jazeera.
In announcing the review on Tuesday, the broadcaster said it would ensure its recruitment processes were "fit for purpose and appropriately robust".
Yurisich also worked at Al Jazeera before joining TVNZ last year.
A TVNZ spokesperson said Yurisich had decided to take leave during the period of the review process by employment lawyer Margaret Robins.
RNZ understands that TVNZ editor of news gathering, Phil O'Sullivan, is now acting head of news and current affairs.
TVNZ's chief executive Simon Power has also today apologised for initially saying Santamaria was resigning due to a "family emergency".
In a statement, TVNZ last week said that "Kamahl has been on leave the last week, while he dealt with a personal matter which required his full attention, and he has now advised that he wishes to take an extended break with his family."
