Suzie Bates becomes the leading scorer in T20 internationals

Suzie Bates became the first female cricketer to reach 4000 T20 international runs in today's fifth and final match against South Africa in Benoni.

South Africa won the game by 11 runs to tie the series.

Bates, with 4021 runs, is now also the leading T20 international run scorer in the world, surpassing India superstar Virat Kohli, who has 4008 runs.

Bates scored 45 runs today as New Zealand chased 156 to win the game.

After putting the homeside into bat South Africa made 155 for five with Tazmin Brits top scoring with 45.

Lea Tahuhu and Molly Penfold both took two weeks each.

In reply the White Ferns got through to 117 for one before Bates was dismissed with the tourists then losing seven wickets for 27 runs.

Amelia Kerr top scored with 61 with New Zealand finishing on 144 for eight.

The first three games of the series were rained out.
