The Northern Marianas public school system has been given US$2.56 million to rebuild schools destroyed by Super Typhoon Yutu.
The territory was struck by Yutu in October, with winds as high as 290km/h destroying hundreds of buildings.
More than 1000 people are still homeless, and classes for several schools are being held in tents and temporary shelter nine months on.
The territory's governor, Ralph Torres, said rebuilding schools is a priority andhe's thankful for the federal funds.
