Imperial Pacific International issued a statement after dozens of construction workers gathered for a protest on Friday to demand the release of their wages.

The company requested all of its contractors and subcontractors to follow and fulfill their commitments and resolve all labour issues according to the law.

In particular, it said to follow the law when hiring workers as those at the rally are suspected to be overstaying tourists working illegally.

Imperial Pacific reiterated that it does not condone the hiring and or employment of individuals by illegal means.

Two employees of its main contractor, MCC International, have been charged of harbouring and employing foreign labourers illegally.
