Five arrested in French Polynesia over counterfeit money

Five people have been arrested in French Polynesia for allegedly circulating counterfeit money.

The news site Tahiti-infos said the five are suspected of having used fake notes amounting to a total of $US10,000.

Their arrest follows a three-month investigation triggered by complaints laid by shopowners.

The report said the fake bills appear to have been made with a photocopier.
