A fire investigator will this morning be looking into the causes of the massive blaze at a car yard in South Auckland yesterday.
The fire started after 3pm, and at its height, about 24 fire trucks were working to bring it under control.
At the time, an emergency mobile alert told nearby residents to stay inside and shut their windows to prevent smoke from coming indoors.
The fire was brought under control just before 9pm.
However, crews remained at the scene overnight, checking for hotspots and extinguishing any further spot fires as they arise.
The clean-up and investigation into the fire's cause will begin this morning.
