Jeweller, vape store among Auckland shops targeted by thieves

Police are investigating a series of overnight burglaries in Auckland including three Michael Hill jewellery stores.

About 1.20am on Wednesday 24 August police responded to a ram raid at a Michael Hill on Hurstmere Road, in Takapuna.

Minutes later, more police responded to a break-in at Glenfield Mall. Once inside, thieves broke into two stores before fleeing in vehicles.

RNZ understands that a Michael Hill store in the mall was one of the shops targeted.

Around 4am, a Michael Hill shop in Newmarket was also targeted for the second time in a month.

The Vape Shed in Glenfield and a 2degrees store were burgled.

In Mt Eden, the Big Barrel Super Liquor Store on Mt Eden Road was also broken into.
