Covid-19 update: 21,595 new cases, 325 in hospital

There are 21,595 new cases of Covid-19 this week, the Ministry of Health has announced.

The seven-day rolling average of community cases is 3079 - last Monday it was 2967. Of the new cases, 3881 are reinfections.

There were also 325 people in hospital at midnight Sunday including seven cases in ICU.

The ministry also reported 56 deaths.

"Of the 56 people whose deaths we are reporting today: three were from Northland, 11 were from Auckland region, seven were from Waikato, two were from Tairawhiti, two were from Hawke's Bay, one was from Taranaki, eight were from MidCentral, five were from Wellington region, two were from Nelson Marlborough, seven were from Canterbury, eight were from Southern," the ministry said.

"Two were in their 40s, two were in their 50s, seven were in their 60s, 18 were in their 70s, 17 were in their 80s and ten were aged over 90. Of these people, 20 were women and 36 were men."

Today's figure - covering the period from 7-13 November - compares to 20,802 new cases, 41 deaths and 322 people in hospital, announced last Monday.
