A scrub fire in Gisborne has been brought under control.
Fire crews and a helicopter were called to the 60 square metre fire in the suburb of Kaiti shortly before 2pm.
The Fire Service said the blaze had been contained and crews were dampening down the area.
A Fire Service spokeswoman earlier said two fire trucks and a tanker were working alongside rural fire crews to put it out.
Police are asking motorists and residents to avoid the area, and cordons are in place.
Fallen trees bring down power lines in Porirua
Meanwhile, a section of the Paekakariki Hill Road in Porirua is closed, after three fallen trees brought down power lines in the area.
The road between Grays Road and State Highway 1 is out of action, but police said affected residents could still get into their homes.
Repairs are under way and the road is being cleared.
