Antony de Malmanche was jailed in June for 15 years after being caught with 1.7kg of methamphetamine when he flew to Bali from Hong Kong in December 2014.

This year, well-behaved prisoners have been recommended for a sentence reduction to mark another decade of independence.

Kerobokan Prison governor Sudjonggo said de Malmanche had been suggested for a sentence reduction.

"While he's not eligible for the decade remission, he's suggested for three months off," he said.

A member of Australia's so-called Bali Nine drug smuggling ring could have her sentence reduced by nine months.

Renae Lawrence, 37, was sentenced to 20 years' jail for her part in the 2004 heroin smuggling plot.

Also recommended for a three-month reduction was Australian Edward Norman Myatt, jailed for eight years in 2012 for smuggling capsules of hashish and methamphetamine into Bali.

This year is Indonesia's 70th anniversary of independence.
