The 3700 kilometre long cable will provide internet connectivity for both Rarotonga and Aitutaki.
The landing station will house telecommunications equipment and is expected to be ready for service in February.
The Cook Islands deputy prime minister, Mark Brown, says the new cable is vital for the economy.
He says it will enable the country to engage fully with the rest of the world
