A search is underway for a person missing after their boat capsized while crossing the Catlins River bar in the South Island.
Police said reports of a boat capsizing near Jack's Bay, Southland, were made shortly before 11am.
Emergency services were searching for one person missing, with volunteers and rescue vessels from Dunedin and Bluff coastguards joining the effort.
A second person onboard was stranded on nearby rocks, and efforts to rescue them were ongoing.
