Fiji's Director of Public Prosecutions has charged another 16 people with sedition and inciting communal antagonism.
This latest case brings the number of people charged with sedition in three separate cases to 60.
Christopher Pryde says yesterday's charges follow a police investigation into activities in the Nadroga-Navosa district last year.
He says there is no evidence to suggest it is related to a group from Ra that has also been charged with sedition, nor is it related to members of an alleged para-military training group facing the same charges.
The sixteen appeared at the Nadi Magistrates' Court yesterday where they were remanded in custody.
Six people who appeared at the Tavua Magistrates Court on similar charges on Monday have also been remanded in custody.
State prosecutors said this was necessary because of the seriousness of the charges and continuing police investigations into the use of firearms.
