The first same sex marriage has been conducted in the Northern Marianas.
The mayor of Saipan, David Apatang, conducted the marriage of two women of Chinese descent on Wednesday at his office.
Last month, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage is a right guaranteed under the equal protection laws, and that ruling compels all states and territories to follow suit.
A Guam move to legalise same-sex marriage preceded that ruling making it the first territory to marry two women earlier this year.
