Air Rarotonga of the Cook Islands is to take delivery of a second 34-seat Saab 340 aircraft.
The turbo-prop's mid-October arrival will allow the airline to add capacity on the Rarotonga to Aitutaki route and for the start of international flights.
The airline said it has plans underway for regional flights to Tahiti and Niue.
Air Rarotonga said it is talking with the government about upgrading airports in the Northern Cook Islands where the Saab would dramatically reduce the cost of transport.
