The death of a toddler in Tauranga a week ago is now being treated as a homicide by police.
The 17-month-old girl, Sadie-Leigh Gardner, was taken to Tauranga hospital from an address on Maungatapu Road with critical injuries last Wednesday.
She died two days later.
Police said they were treating her death as a homicide after medical examinations and looking at post mortem results.
Officers were continuing to speak to the girl's family who were co-operating, police said.
They have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact police.
