Fiji's ruling FijiFirst Party has advertised for potential candidates for next year's election.
The party won nearly two thirds of the seats in the 50 seat parliament in 2014.
FBC News reported the party was expected to boost advertising for candidates in coming days.
According to the broadcaster the party's General Secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said current members would also need to apply.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said applications close in early January.
In March this year the country's Electoral Commission announced it was adding one more seat to the next parliament to take into account population growth.
No date has yet been announced for the election.
