Kyrgios in hot water...again

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios could find himself in hot water again after accusing men's tennis governing body ATP of being "corrupt" following his U.S. Open first round victory.

The mercurial 24-year-old made the comment at a news conference when asked if he could have avoided a $178,000 fine after his second-round defeat by Russia's Karen Khachanov at the Cincinnati Masters earlier this month.

Kyrgios was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct, verbal abuse and audible obscenity after arguing with the chair umpire and smashing two rackets during a meltdown.

Kyrgios said that the fine had not affected his preparations for the year's final Grand Slam tournament.

"Not at all. The ATP is pretty corrupt anyway, so I'm not fussed about it at all," Kyrgios said.

The ATP said earlier this month that it would see if more action, including an "additional fine and/or suspension" was warranted after Kyrgios' Cincinnati outburst.

Burnley fan 'runs away'

A Burnley fan who ran from Turf Moor to every away game in the English Premier League last season to raise money for charity will be recognised by UEFA at tomorrow's Champions League draw in Monaco.

While no Premier League player ran more than 450 km on the pitch in the 2018-19 season, Scott Cunliffe covered nearly 5,000 km as part of the aptly-named 'RunAway Challenge' and raised nearly $116,000 for various charities.

Ullrich was convicted on the charges of body injury and attempted coercion and the court in Frankfurt fined him $12,500.

Previous charges of attempted manslaughter and grievous bodily harm were dropped in the course of the investigation.

He insulted the woman and asked her to give back money he had given her in advance for her services under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Court documents say he then grabbed the woman by the neck with one hand and pushed her against a wall. After that, he gagged her with both hands and slammed one fist against her arm.

Prosecutors say the woman was not interested in any further prosecution after Ullrich apologised for his behaviour and paid her compensation.
