The terminal redevelopment will cost between $21.7 million and $28.7 million.

Clelands managing director Michael Braggins said local suppliers and contractors will be used where possible.

The current terminal was built in the 1960s to cater for 50,000 passengers a year but 440,000 travellers now pass through annually.

Construction is due to be completed at the end of next year.
