Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to get a Samoan matai title today.
Rabuka is in Apia for the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) this week.
According to Samoa Capital Radio's report, Rabuka will be bestowed the tittle of chief of the village of Leauva'a.
Vaifale, a representative of the community, confirmed that the title of Tagaloa will be given to him.
"There are no connections with the Prime Minister, but the idea is for this to make history as a mark to the government of Samoa's hosting of CHOGM," Samoa Capital Radio reported.
Leauva'a is the host country for the Fijian officials attending CHOGM, and the village has taken all necessary precautions for the safety of Rabuka.
The ceremony to confer the title of Tagaloa on Rabuka will be held at 4pm today.
