Tuvalu reports surge in dengue-like illness

Tuvalu's Ministry of Health has reported a recent surge in cases of dengue-like illness.

Community clean up campaigns are being organised, while awareness messages to the general public are also being developed.

This was confirmed in a World Health Organisation Pacific regional update.

The WHO also confirmed that the number of reported cases in Palau's ongoing dengue outbreak, which was registered in December, has reached 135.

This month the Cook Islands confirmed it had ten dengue cases, with the country on alert.

French Polynesia has also recorded a second case of type 2 dengue this month.
