More than 100 families are still without homes on Saipan two years after Typhoon Soudelor devastated the island.
The local chapter of the Red Cross said it was helping to rebuild houses after the typhoon which was one of the most powerful ever to hit the CNMI.
It said it was working with the Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Effort (CARE) which has the financial resources to support the rebuilding process.
Construction workers from the US mainland are also in the CNMI to assist.
Last week, the CNMI received $US300,000 in federal funds to remove a large, steel abandoned fishing vessel from the reef outside Saipan harbour which broke free from its mooring during the typhoon.
The ship damaged a huge area of coral, and has remained abandoned in the harbour ever since.
