Most schools in French Polynesia are expected to be open tomorrow after cleaning up in the aftermath of the heavy rain two weekends ago.
Unusually heavy rain in Tahiti and Moorea caused massive flooding and an estimated 900 homes have been damaged or destroyed.
The mayors of the affected towns have helped those worst affected as many parts of Tahiti were under water and roads were damaged.
The new public works minister Luc Faatau said last week that the damage was about $US13 million.
The airport in Tahiti was forced to close for a day.
