Recent warmer temperatures are forcing two Otago ski fields to delay their opening.
Cardrona Alpine Resort was originally due to open last weekend while Coronet Peak was meant to open today.
NZ Ski operates snow fields at Mt Hutt, the Remarkables and Coronet Peak.
Chief executive Paul Anderson said the warmer period earlier in the week stopped them starting up their snow guns.
But he said a return to wintry conditions meant Coronet Peak should be ready to open in a couple of days' time.
The resorts have been continuously making snow for over 48 hours.
