A Michael Hill store in Pukekohe was burgled in the early hours of this morning.

It is the third time the Pukekohe store has been targeted recently.

Police said the latest burglary was reported to them just after 4am.

The latest incident marks at least the tenth time Michael Hill stores in Auckland have been targeted by thieves this year.

In addition to the thefts from the Pukekohe store, the jewellery chain's Hurstmere Road branch in Takapuna has been targeted three times: twice in August and once in June.

Michael Hill stores in Westgate, Glenfield Mall, Newmarket and Queen Street in the central city have also been hit in recent months.

Photos posted to social media also showed damage to a Michael Hill store in Waitākere's WestCity mall after four men used a weapon to smash their way into the shopping centre in April, injuring a guard who tried to stop them.
