There are concerns in the Cook Islands that the only indoor sports stadium could be unavailable for months if it is used to house police while the force's offices are renovated.
The Cook Islands Investment Corporation, which manages government properties, is yet to decide if it will use the Bluesky Sports Arena.
It said several potential sites, including the stadium, were being considered and a decision would be made by mid-November.
A sports administrator Cecile Marten said the threat of losing the stadium was a real worry because it was the site for an annual international netball tournament, a key resource for Tereora College and for another six sporting codes.
"This comes after a week of reading front page news about how our country is facing a huge NCD[ non communicable disease] numbers, obesity and our children and our country, and I am thinking, gosh, our government is crazy."
