Auckland misses out on prestigious global city prize

Auckland gets special mention in an international liveable city competition, with the top prize going to Medellín in Colombia.

The Lee Kuan Yuw World City Prize recognises liveable, vibrant and sustainable urban communities.

Auckland was praised for early progress since the amalgamation of its councils in 2010, especially its region-wide planning.

Sydney, Toronto and Vienna rated also received special mentions from the Singaporean jury.
