Police have charged a man with the murder of Clifford Umuhuri, who was found dead in central Auckland after a shooting incident.
The body of the 47-year-old was found early one morning more than two weeks ago in Grafton near Auckland Hospital.
Police had earlier responded to reports of gunshots in the suburb of St Johns about five kilometres east.
A search warrant was carried out this morning a Druces Rd address in Wiri in South Auckland where a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder.
"The enquiry team has worked extremely hard over the past fortnight as they pieced together the events which led to Mr Umuhuri's death," detective inspector Lloyd Schmid said.
"Despite the fact an arrest has been made, this work continues and further charges may be laid in the matter."
The man will appear in the Auckland District Court this afternoon.
Earlier a 26-year-old man was charged with aggravated robbery.
Police are still appealing for sightings of a silver Nissan Skyline which was in central Auckland about 6am on Monday 1 June, which has been recovered.
"This vehicle has travelled from St Johns Rd, along Ngāpipi Rd, Tāmaki Dr and Quay Str towards Whitaker Place between 6am and 6.24am on 1 June.
"We are exploring the possibility that this Nissan Skyline has stopped briefly on the route," Schmid said.
"We need anyone who saw this vehicle or any suspicious activity along this route to contact the enquiry team."
