The search for missing trampers Dion Reynolds and Jessica O'Connor will not resume today due to rainfall and unsafe conditions.
Search and rescue teams have been looking for the pair in Kahurangi National Park for the past week.
They failed to return from a tramp after setting out on 9 May.
Police said plans to resume searching are ongoing and a large amount of rainfall has made terrain extremely hazardous and the search too dangerous for now.
It is expected that when the search resumes, it will involve specialist trackers, search dogs, and the use of a search radar, once conditions are dry enough.
Police thanked everyone involved with the search to date, including LandSAR volunteers and critical support from the Defence Force, Fire and Emergency and the Department of Conservation.
Meanwhile, a Give A Little page set up by Dominic O'Connor - Jess' brother - has raised almost $22,000 for Land Search and Rescue New Zealand who have been searching since Monday.
The families of the missing pair say they can take some solace in the commitment and hard work of the emergency response efforts.
