Two people have been charged with murder after the death of a 70-year-old man at an apartment in Auckland.
In a statement, Detective Inspector Scott Beard of Auckland City CIB said emergency services were called to reports of an injured person a residence on Upper Queen Street at 1.13pm on Wednesday.
The 70-year-old man was transported to hospital but died.
On Wednesday night, a 35-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were arrested.
They appeared in Auckland District Court by video link and were granted interim name suppression. No pleas were entered.
The woman was visibly emotional, taking a moment to gather herself before the proceedings.
Police said a post mortem examination would be carried out on Thursday.
"Police are still working to notify the victim's next of kin," a statement said.
