Test results for a suspected case of the measles at a Palmerston North high school have come back negative, but the district health board says it's still worried about the virus.
Palmerston North Girls' High School closed today because of the suspected case, but it turned out to be a false alarm.
MidCentral district's medical officer of health Rob Weir said he's still concerned about the spread of measles, especially as some people asked to go into home isolation have not done so.
That was putting more people at risk and adding to disruption to schools and community activities, he said.
Fourteen cases of measles have been confirmed in the district.
Since an outbreak in Waikato in April, the virus has spread to Nelson, Northland and Horowhenua.
