PNG is to host leaders from countries in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation grouping in Port Moresby in November

According to the newspaper The National, Defence Force engineering battalion soldiers have been training a range of high-risk search drills in PNG's second city of Lae.

Operations officer Major Nukama Mote says it's part of upskilling soldiers to cope with bomb threats and other life-threatening situations in hotels, sporting complexes, shops and hospitals.

Twenty soldiers have been doing a similar exercise near Moresby.
