The second phase of American Samoa's 2020 census has been launched with the counting process expected to continue until June.
Phase one of the 10 yearly census was conducted last month with the listing of all living quarters in the territory.
Phase two involves census field workers conducting face-to-face interviews in every village.
Speaking on local television, Census Bureau advisor Jason Koop said those interviewed needed to answer all the questions.
"How important it is to answer completely and accurately to every question because this helps us create accurate data for American Samoa to use for the next 10 years and this data is so important so we can get our fair share of federal funding."
Mr Koop said information collected was confidential.
There would be no questions about immigration status.
