The Australian Federal Police (AFP) are stepping in to help Papua New Guinea police with a refurbishment project in Port Moresby.

PNG police say the AFP had stepped in to help refurbish the Waigani Police Station in the National Capital District under the PNG-Australia Policing Partnership.
AFP officers have been in Port Moresby scoping the refurbishment project with maintenance work set to start shortly.
Police Commander NCD/Central Anthony Wagambie Jr said the upgrade would help the force's drive for improved discipline and work ethics.
Under the Partnership programme, the constabulary would transform Waigani first, and eventually roll out the program to other stations throughout the capital, he said.
Police Minister Bryan Kramer's plans for reform in the force were being taken seriously by constabulary management, he said.
