Pope appoints new bishop in Kundiawa

Pope Francis has appointed Father Paul Sundu as the new Bishop of the disocese of Kundiawa in Papua New Guinea.

Father Sundu had until now been the parish priest of Koge as well as a lecturer in Mount Hagen.

Father Sundu, who is 48, was ordained in 2006 and studied in Rome.

About a quarter of PNG's population is Catholic.
