The Cook Islands opposition says it wants immediate action on recommendations to improve prison services.

Democratic MP Terepai Maoate says none of the recommendations in a report done after a triple shooting two years ago have been implemented.

He says the prison service needs to be upgraded, officers properly trained and all proceduures relating to work release programmes reviewed and updated.
