The Utilities Corporation in the Northern Marianas says full power will be restored to Saipan and Tinian by the end of February

The state owned company says nearly 90 percent of Saipan has been re-energized, while 65 percent of Tinian has power three months after Super Typhoon Yutu devastated the islands in October.

The company said a lack of materials has slowed the restoration work.

It said 271 transformers arrived this week and another 280 are expected to come next week.

The company said it is still hoping to buy a new two kilowatt power plant for Tinian which could cost $US300,000.
